Re:Help...... - 2006/02/21 19:39 Priscilla,

In the short term, you can improve your mood by getting some regular exercise - go for a jog or a brisk walk and you will feel better due to the release of endorphins in your body. Also, do the things that you enjoy - see a good movie, go out for dinner etc.

In the longer term, you should work on your relationships. If being alone makes you sad, you need to connect to more people to share your feelings and thoughts. You can make friends at work, in your neighborhood or even online. There is a good community of happiness seekers on this website and you can search for like minded people in the Connections section of this site.
I hope this helps.

Re:Help...... - 2007/04/01 00:39 I think Sanjiv offered some good advice.

When we're sad, we tend not to do much and so we wind up spending way too much time thinking about the stuff that makes us sad, and that just makes the sadness get bigger. Also, when we're sad, we don't feel like doing the things that will eventually make us happy... like exercising, making new friends, going places. It seems like an effort when we're low, but really it is key... you've got to make an effort until you find more things that make you happy and find more happiness in yourself. You're not likely to find it by dwelling on unhappiness. Instead, you've got to find people, things to do, new experiences, and have new thoughts.

My favorite quick-fix is music. Music has amazing powers to change our moods, so find happy music and put it on when you're feeling low, and get moving! I like to dance to music at home... give it a try.

Re:Help...... - 2007/04/02 06:37 The way I look at it is…....if this is the low point then the highs are going to be absolutely fantastic!

Hold on tight!!

Re:Help...... - 2007/04/08 23:42 I agree that exercise would be great for you. I always feel really good after a short strong workout. If you did this, maybe even go to a gym, then you may meet more people that you can relate to.

Talk to your friend and see if they are friends with others that you may be able to hang out with as well.

Re:Help...... - 2007/04/14 01:47 Hi,
I often feel this way but through past experience I know that if I go for a walk, in the woods if possible, I return feeling much better, before I go Im feel convinced that today it wont work, so I have to force myself to go out, sometimes just to prove to myself that today it wont work, but sadly it always proves me wrong

If I cant go to the woods I try to go around some art galleries or art shops or even just around the mall, sit and have a tea and watch the people, I only stop in if I have a good movie to watch.

Hope you find a way to feel happy soon, good luck

Steven
